Bonfire Night arrangements at Inverness

The second major event of the 2011 Inverness Festivals Winter programme takes place in Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday (5th November) when The Highland Council’s annual fireworks display returns to light up the skies above the River Ness.

A bumper crowd is expected to gather to see the Inverness Common Good Fund-sponsored show which will start at 7.30pm when local youngster 11-year-old Struan Maclean steps forward to help Deputy Provost Councillor Alex Graham light the giant bonfire which will tower above the field.

This year’s 20-minute display will be staged by the award-winning Fireworx Scotland team. The Falcon Drumming Group and Fly Agaric Fire Twirlers will provide the pre-Bonfire entertainment from 7pm.

Due to the growing popularity of this event, which regularly attracts crowds in excess of 10,000,  spectators are asked to play their part in easing congestion in the area by car sharing and travelling to the show on foot whenever possible. Motorists are asked to park considerately away from the site; and to plan their trip so that they allow both themselves and their passengers plenty of time to walk to the show. Limited car parking will be available for Disabled Blue Badge Holders only at Bught Park Stadium and drivers are asked to note that a temporary one way system will be in operation on the night.
