7 candidates contest Inverness South By-Election

7 candidates will contest the by-election for a vacancy on The Highland Council’s Ward 20 Inverness South.

The candidates are:-

David Bonsor, Scottish Conservative and Unionist
Donald MacLeod Boyd, Scottish Christian Party “Proclaiming Christ’s Lordship”
Carolyn Caddick, Scottish Liberal Democrats
Gale Falconer, Scottish Green Party
Ken Gowans, Scottish National Party (SNP)
Katherine Mackenzie, Scottish Labour Party
David McGrath, Independent

The by-election will be held on Thursday 3 November and voting will take place at 6 polling stations between 7.00 am – 10.00 pm. The polling stations are:-

Those intending to vote are reminded that the single transferable vote system is being used. Instead of using a cross, voters are asked to number the candidates in the order of their choice eg placing the number 1 next to the name of the candidate who is their first choice; 2 next to their second choice etc. Voters can mark as many or as few choices as they like.

Any electors wishing to apply for a postal or proxy vote should contact the Electoral Registration Officer, Moray House, Bank Street, Inverness, IV1 1QY or on 0800 393 783 or email: ero@highland.gov.uk no later than Wednesday, 19 October 2011 at 5 pm.

The count will take place on Friday 4 November at Inverness Town House.

The vacancy was created by the resignation of Mr John Holden.
