Energy advice roadshows

Advice about energy conservation and fuel savings will be given at a series of four roadshows in Aird and Loch Ness Ward.

They will be held between 2 – 6 pm on Monday 31 October at the Royal British Legion Hall, Beauly; on Thursday 3 November at Blairbeg Hall, Drumnadrochit; on Thursday 10 November  at the  Service Point, Fort Augustus;  and on Thursday 17th November at  the Community Hall, Farr.

Eddie Boyd, Energy Advice Manager for The Highland Council, said: “This is a great time of year to highlight the many energy saving opportunities available to people across rural Inverness. With the support of the Councillors for the Aird & Loch Ness Ward we have arranged for Energy Saving Scotland, SSE and Community Energy Scotland to be at the Road Shows to provide advice to people about energy conservation and fuel savings. We will also have the Council’s own Money Advice Team with information about income maximisation as well as the Waste Team to let people know about recycling.”

Local school children will also have exhibits at the road shows to illustrate their learning about energy conservation and efficiency.

Local contractors have been invited to provide advice about biomass energy schemes and photovoltaic technology.

The Councillors for Aird & Loch Ness are delighted to have this Energy Advice Road Show going round rural Inverness. At local surgeries they are frequently presented with issues relating to the rising costs of domestic fuel and the impact of fuel poverty. They say these road shows will give people the chance to discuss ways of cutting fuel costs and saving money.

SSE has donated wireless energy monitors as prizes in a free draw at each event.
