Junior High Life try triathlon
Organisers of a Junior High Life Try Triathlon held at Grantown Grammar School playing fields and Craig Maclean Leisure Centre on Saturday 3 September have hailed the event as a resounding success.
Sixty five competitors between the ages of 7 to 12 years participated in the first Youth Try Tri managed by the Craig Maclean Leisure Centre staff and Management Committee. Competitors took part in three age groups of “Tristar” events including non-stop swimming, cycling and running for 7-8 years, 9-10 years and 11-12 years.
Every child that took part received a fun triathlon t-shirt, souvenir medal and goody bag for their efforts in taking part.

Participants raised sponsor money for the new soft play project at the Craig Maclean Leisure Centre.
Donna Reilly, Centre Manager said: “A special thanks go to our volunteers and sponsors MacKellar Engineering, AW Laing, McLeod Building, Colin Lawson’s, Zippy Embroidery, Rattrays Garage, Smarty Art, Hair at Mharis, Tesco, Abernethy Golf Club, Walkers, Co-operative and Audrey’s.”
She added: “The success of the day has sparked much interest and we hope to make this an annual event for young people in the area to gain more interest in the country’s number one growing sport. The feedback we received was excellent and It was great to hear the parents saying how inspired their children where to practice cycling and running leading up to the event.”
