Closure of Invergordon Academy

Invergordon Academy was closed today (Monday 12 September) on health and safety grounds as the result of damage to an area of ceiling caused by water penetration over the weekend. This affected the school canteen, an area used as an access route by the pupils.

It is hoped that repairs can be carried out today and access routes reinstated so that the 440 pupils can return to school tomorrow (Tuesday).

The water penetration arose as a result of work currently being carried out at the school to replace the roof over the canteen.

The contractor, Bell Contracts, began work in July and the work wass due for completion in October.

The value of the contract is £149,000.
