Delayed start on Beauly improvement works

A £200,000 package of improvements will start in Beauly on Monday 17 October 2011.

The date has, regrettably had to be put back from the earlier announced date of the 3rd October, to allow for full completion of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations documentation.

The Highland Council has appointed Premier One Land Services as contractors to implement the upgrading works, which will last for up to twelve weeks.

The project includes pavement and kerbing works in the Square and the approach to Braeview Park. The work is funded from The Highland Council Planning and Development Service Capital Programme and the LEADER programme.

Pedestrian access will be maintained to all shops, during trading hours, for the duration of the project and the contractor will liaise directly with proprietors in order to minimise disruption. Working hours will generally be from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, although there may be some evening working up until 8pm to complete pavement work adjoining the shop fronts.

These works are the culmination of a consultation process in which the local community was canvassed for opinions and consulted on the proposals arising from the initial survey.

Local Highland Councillor Helen Carmichael and member of the Council’s Planning, Environment and Development Committee said: “‘It is good to see this phase of the work getting underway; the first phase was completed to everyone’s satisfaction.

“We realise there will be some disruptions, however I am sure the community will make allowances during this time as they agreed the work which is to be done during the consultation period. The work in Braeview Park should help alleviate the parking problems encountered in the Square and make Beauly and even better village to visit and live in.”
