New ballot papers issued for Aviemore and Vicinity Community Council election as original poll is abandoned.

The Highland Council is today writing to the 2,620 electorate of Aviemore and Vicinity Community Council area to inform them, that due to an administrative error, the original election poll for the community council (which had a return date of 16 August) has been abandoned.

Voters are being informed that a fresh set of ballot papers (in a different colour) is being issued via second class post on Wednesday 15 August, with a return date of 4pm on Thursday 6 September.  The count will held in St Andrew’s Church Hall on Thursday, 6 September at 6.30 pm.

The administrative error - which occurred during the issuing of postal ballots for the Aviemore and Vicinity Community Council - was noticed when some of the residents in the Kincraig Community area were issued with a ballot paper in error.

Voters are asked to disregard the original (peach) ballot paper that was previously sent to them. Any pre-paid envelopes that were returned to the Council will be destroyed.

The Count will be held on the evening of Thursday, 6 September and the results of the election will be posted in the Aviemore Service Point and published on The Highland Council’s web-site at http://www.highland.gov.uk/elections.htm

The Highland Council apologises for this error and seeks the assistance and co-operation of the Aviemore and Vicinity Community Council electorate in this important matter by completing and returning their new green ballot papers.
