City of Inverness Area Committee selects preferred option for the management of Inverness City Centre HMOs.

Members of The Highland Council’s City of Inverness Area Committee have voted 15 to 3 to recommend that no limit is set for managing the concentration of Houses in Multiple Occupation in Inverness City Centre.

The members’ preferred option will be recommended to The Highland Council’s Planning, Environment and Development Committee as part of the Council’s consultation process on revised planning guidance for Houses in Multiple Occupation.

City Leader, Councillor Ian Brown said: “It is good for the City of Inverness Area Committee to make this recommendation to the Planning, Environment and Development Committee as it is local members’ Wards that will be affected by the revised planning guidance and our opinions will help inform the final draft of the guidance.”

The supplementary planning guidance, which is currently out for consultation has been prepared to provide an effective tool for the management of the concentration of Houses in Multiple Occupation, in the whole of Highland but with a specific focus on how concentration can be managed in Inverness City Centre.

The public are also being invited to review the Draft Guidance on Houses in Multiple Occupation proposals on the Council’s website http://www.www.highland.gov.uk/; in local Highland Council Libraries, Service Points and at Council Headquarters in Inverness. The consultation runs until 21 December 2012.

Comments on the guidance should be sent to the Council in writing, either by email to devplans@highland.gov.uk or by post to Development Plans Team, The Highland Council, Council Offices, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness, IV3 5NX, to arrive no later than 21 December 2012.

Anyone wishing further information or a paper copy of the document should telephone 01463 702259 or email devplans@highland.gov.uk.
