Winter wonderland

The 2012 Inverness Festivals Winter Wonderland event will be staged this weekend (Friday 14 to Sunday 16 December) and has been extended for the first time to three evenings to cater for demand from young families who wish to attend.

The free Inverness Common Good Fund sponsored show will take place in a specially illuminated Whin Park which will feature a number of giant features installed by The Highland Council’s Lighting Department in Transport, Environmental and Community Services.

Thanks to the reflections created by the Boating Lake, the Winter Wonderland event is extremely popular with photographers of all ages, who take full advantage of the opportunity to capture some wonderful images.

Children will be given the opportunity to get their photographs taken with Santa, meet his reindeer and pass on any last minute Christmas letters to one of his elves.

A number of special guests will also be in attendance to greet young visitors courtesy of the teams from Fly Agaric and Mascot Madness. The Winter Wonderland will be open from 4pm until 7pm daily. Hot food will be available on site and children will also get the opportunity to enjoy the many rides that are available in one of the Highland Capital’s favourite parks.
