Road condition and gritting treatment reports by The Highland Council’s, Transport, Environmental and Community Services for the morning of Wednesday 12 December 2012 are as follows:

Caithness and North Sutherland
Widespread black ice, due to frequent sleet/rain showers onto cold roads. Gritted all priority 1 to 3 routes and continuing to grit some priority 4 routes as required. Posted 12/12/2012 11:13.

Mid and West Ross
Roads generally dry, with odd icy patches where seepage occurs. All priority routes checked. Posted: 12/12/2012 09:30

Nairn
Roads damp with residual salt, no gritting required. Posted: 12/12/2012 09:16

Lochaber
Some routes part treated most route have high salt levels (ice flows and seepage spot treated). Posted: 12/12/2012 09:04

Skye and Lochalsh 
All priority 1, 2, and 3 roads have been patrolled this morning with no problems to report. Moving on to priority 4 routes with known problem areas. Good residual salt on the road sufficient to deal with any frost. Posted: 12/12/2012 08:32

South Sutherland and Easter Ross
A mixture of dry and damp roads with icy patches all routes being treated in priority order. Posted: 12/12/2012 08:22

Badenoch and Strathspey
Priority 1 and 2 routes 10grm grit checking 3 and 4 routes with loaded gritters.
