A897 Helmsdale Strath and Glen Loth roads re-opened.
Councillor Graham Phillips, Chair of The Highland Council’s Transport Environment and Community Services Committee has thanked TEC Services staff for their efforts and quick action to clear and re-open the A897 which was closed yesterday by a collapsed culvert.
On Sunday 23 December the Council closed the Glen Loth Road (North of Brora) due to a landslide and part collapsed culvert. A culvert washed away at Kilernan on the A897 also caused this road to close.
TEC Services made preparations on Sunday for a 6am start today, to carry out works including putting in a temporary culvert on the A897 and at Glen Loth to clear the landslide debris and make temporary repairs so that the roads could re-open.
Councillor Phillips said: “A huge thanks to everyone involved for their quick action and to get these roads cleared before the Christmas and New Year holiday begins.”
