New Bus Services Launched

The Highland Council has awarded tenders for two new bus services which are set to benefit people living in Nigg, the Seaboard villages, and the surrounding area.

The first new service is from Nigg Village to Tain. It will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays leaving Nigg at 10.00 and 13.41 before returning from Tain at 14.03. As well as allowing passengers shopping and leisure opportunities in Tain, the service will connect with the 25X service to Inverness.

The second new service is a demand responsive service to meet the 18.49 train from Inverness at Hill of Fearn station. Passengers disembarking at the station will be transported to Fearn, Balintore, Shandwick, Portmahomack and Inver.

Local Councillor Richard Durham said: "It is important that people living in rural communities have access to public transport. I am pleased to see that these new services will give more flexibility to people’s travel plans.

"The new service from Nigg to Tain connects with the express service to Inverness. The other new service from Fearn station will make it more convenient for people living in rural Easter Ross to travel home by train from Inverness in the evening
