Lairg and Raasay Community Council elections
Postal ballot papers have been issued today (Wednesday) for elections being held to form Community Councils in Lairg, Sutherland, and the Isle of Raasay, Skye. There are 9 candidates for 8 vacancies at Lairg and 10 candidates for 8 vacancies at Raasay.
Voters have until 4 pm on Thursday 2 February to return their ballot papers. The count will take place locally on Friday 3 February.
There are 741 electors in the Lairg area and 131 on Raasay.
Voters are asked to place a cross on their postal ballot paper against the names of up to 8 candidates they wish to see elected.
There are 156 Community Councils in The Highland Council area. Already, 151 Community Councils have been formed following recent elections. Both Lairg and Raasay Community Councils failed to attract sufficient nominations following the first round of elections in November.
