Work to start on Ormidale Place, Dingwall
A scheme to upgrade the road surface in Ormidale Place in Dingwall is due to begin on site at the end of January.
The contract for the project has been awarded to MM Miller (Wick) Ltd and work is due to commence on site on Monday 30th January 2012 for a period of four weeks.
WA Fairhurst & Partners (Inverness) have been appointed by the Council as consulting engineers for the work.
The £50k project is a continuation of the earlier phased streetscape regeneration project which focused on enhancements to the High Street and improving links from the public car parks to the High Street.
Ormidale Place is one of the key vennels linking Greenhill car park with the High Street and will form the final part of expenditure from the Planning and Development capital programme towards the streetscape project. The scheme will involve the replacement of the existing lockblock paving leading from the High Street to the rear of the hairdressing salon on Ormidale Place.
A road closure will be in place for the duration of the works with pedestrian access for residents and businesses being maintained in liaison with the contractor. Before works starts, representatives from MM Miller Ltd will liaise with those directly affected.
The road closure will come into force at 0800 hrs on Monday 30th January 2012 and will remain in effect until 1800 hrs on Friday 24th February 2012. The closure will prohibit access by vehicular traffic to Ormidale Place commencing at its junction with the High Street and extending for its full length to its junction with the south side car park road.
An alternative route will be available via Crawford Street and this will be signed.
