Staggies boys put their best ‘fit’ forward

Issued by High Life Highland

Today (Wednesday 27th June 2012) Ross County FC Assistant Manager Stuart Balmer and Youth Coach Steven Ferguson cut the ribbon to officially open a new fitness room and exercise / dance studio at the leisure centre in Dingwall; greatly adding to the choice of health and fitness options on offer for residents and visitors to the area.

The new facilities will be welcomed by users of the busy centre, as last year essential roofing works closed the swimming pool for some months.  This was used as an opportunity to bring forward planned work on the fitness suite and introduce a brand-new exercise studio. The previous fitness room has been increased in size by around 40%, completely refurbished and a range of brand-new Technogym exercise equipment installed, with a new modern dance and fitness studio with a sprung floor, double ballet barre, floor-to-ceiling mirrors and a state-of-the-art sound system added.

The leisure centre will also benefit from a recently installed bio-mass heating system which will significantly reduce operating costs and the facility’s carbon footprint.

The centre is managed for The Highland Council by High Life Highland, who’s interim chair, Laurence Young said “The new facilities are of exceptional quality - I am grateful to The Highland Council architects, the contractors Morgan Sindall, and the High Life Highland staff whose hard work and dedication has brought this project to fruition and I very much hope that the people of Dingwall and further afield will enjoy using the facilities to further improve their health and wellbeing.”

Welcoming the reopening of the Dingwall Leisure Centre fitness room, Councillor Alasdair Christie, Chairman of The Highland Council’s Adult and Children’s Service Committee said: “I am delighted that the Council’s capital funding programme has enabled our partners High Life Highland to provide this state of the art fitness suite for people in the Dingwall area and further afield. Healthier communities mean a healthier Highland and we warmly welcome this new facility.”

The new fitness room and studio will open on Wednesday 27th June 2012, with a programme of group exercise classes including Spinning, BodyAttack, BodyPump and Zumba on offer to customers.
