Future management of the Averon Leisure, Alness
Highland Councillors have agreed a request by the Board of Averon Leisure Management Ltd for the management of the leisure centre, which is owned by the Council, to be transferred to High Life Highland, the charitable company formed in October of last year to develop and promote opportunities in culture, learning, sport, leisure health and wellbeing.
Councillors have agreed to contribute £44,000 to High Life Highland to manage the leisure complex over 18 months.
They believe the move helps protect the Council’s asset and safeguards leisure provision in Alness in the medium term; improves staff retention by offering higher rates of pay and offers a wider career path for staff, who can transfer or gain promotion within the High Life Highland network.
The transfer is dependent upon the boards of HLH and Averon Leisure Management formally signing off the approach.
