Raigmore pupils urge people to wear their trainers… and help Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Raigmore Primary School, in Inverness is urging as many people as possible to wear their trainers on Commonwealth Day, March 12, and support the Glasgow 2014 Games.

As well as encouraging pupils, staff and the wider community to join in, they have sent special Glasgow 2014 trainers to their soldier dads on duty in Afghanistan.

The trainers were taken to the country by Sergeant Major Stacey and Lance Corporal Simpson when they returned to active duty at the end of last week.

The national Sport Your Trainers day will encourage everyone to ditch their normal footwear and put on trainers in support of the Commonwealth Games.

Pupils at Raigmore Primary are asking anyone who joins in the fun on March 12 to send them a photo of them wearing their trainers.  Players at Caley Thistle FC have already shown their support and the children have e-mailed all schools across Highland to ask them to join in, as well as local community groups and local Councilors.   

On Monday 12th at 11.15am, everyone at the school will be taking part in an active session called ‘The Big 100’, where each class will be doing 100 of something, i.e. star jumps, or squats.  Parents and community groups have been invited to come along and take part too.
