Stromeferry A890 update
From Monday 19 March, it is intended that the A 890 Lochcarron – Kyle road at Stromeferry will be open 7 days per week 7am to 7pm, with traffic diverted from the road on to the railway line. Passage will be interrupted to allow trains to pass.
As an indication, in the first week Monday to Friday, Network Rail will allow cars on the railway during the following times:-
0710 to 0745 (Lochcarron to Kyle first); 0850 to 0915; 1020 to 1055; 1340 to 1420; 1610 to 1700; 1810 to 1900.
Times for Saturday and Sunday will be published later in the week.
Outwith these times, cars will not be allowed through the road and there may be some minor time variations as trains can run late/early.
Once the extra train in morning finishes (on 23 March) the morning opening period will be extended.
The message from the contractor TRAC Engineering, which is making safe the rockface, is “Please be patient and obey instructions from the marshalls”.
They are still building the road and in case anything slows them down,The Highland Council will still be running the car ferry and the passenger ferry Monday – Friday of next week.
