Minor landslip on A890 Stromeferry by-pass.
A minor landslip was detected high above the A890 Stromeferry by-pass yesterday (Thursday 8 November), approximately 1km west of the avalanche shelter. A detailed survey of the affected location has been undertaken today (Friday 9 November) by the Council’s engineer, URS consulting engineers and TRAC geotechnical contractors.
As a result of this, concrete barriers have been placed at the bottom of the slope to prevent any minor spillage of debris landing on the road. Additional barriers will be placed on Monday in order to permit the removal of small amounts of loose material on Wednesday 14 November.
Traffic will be maintained throughout this operation with minor interruptions for loading trucks and this will be controlled by site personnel. The road will be checked on Saturday and Sunday to ensure that there are no further problems.
