Glen Righ Traffic Management Update

Forestry Commission Scotland is pleased to advise road users of the A82 between Corran and Fort William that there will now be no temporary traffic signals at Glen Righ from Friday 16 November until early in the New Year.

This has been achieved by a re-jig of its A82 work, and allows the temporary signals to be removed 5 weeks earlier than previously advised.

Traffic management will remain in place until Friday 16th to allow contractors to erect baseline protective fencing, but once this is completed the Commission is not planning any more TM there until tree felling works start in January.

Alex MacLeod said: “The work programme has gone well so far and we’re happy with what has been achieved to date, so we can comfortably do without the traffic management that had been planned up until the end of December.

“Hopefully that will help by giving local road users one less thing to worry about in the run up to Christmas. The break from hill work will give us the opportunity to look ahead and start planning felling work in the New Year.

“There are still a couple of public drop in days planned too so there’s still an opportunity to find out about our forthcoming felling operations at Glen Righ and about the wider A82 project. This involves timber felling adjacent to the A82 elsewhere in the Great Glen. The four events we’ve had so far have seen a good turn out and people have been very interested and supportive of the need to get this job done.”

The last two events, which will be manned by Forestry Commission Scotland personnel, supported by Transport Scotland and Scotland Transerv personnel are planned for:

• Thursday 15 November - Alexandra Hotel, Fort William - 12 noon to 7.00pm

• Monday 26 November - Glen Urquhart Public Hall, Drumnadrochit - 12 noon to 8.00pm
