Head teacher appointments
The Highland Council has recently appointed a number of head teachers in the Inverness, and Badenoch and Strathspey areas.
Dr James Vance is the new head teacher for Culloden Academy and starts after the October holidays. Dr Vance has been head teacher at Golspie High School since March 2010 and is replacing Stephen Dowds. Prior to his post at Golpsie, James Vance, was Depute Rector at Banff Academy, Aberdeenshire and earlier taught at Fraserburgh Academy.
Paul Milton has been appointed as head teacher at Glen Urquhart High School. He also takes up post after the October break. He is currently depute head teacher at Culloden Academy.
Claire Lake has been appointed as acting head teacher at Carrbridge Primary. A start date is yet to be confirmed but Claire already works part of the week in the school. She is also currently a part-time principal teacher for early years in the area. Claire takes over from Jillian Kean who is currently acting head teacher at Merkinch Primary, Inverness. The post of head teacher at Merkinch Primary has been re-advertised.
Stephanie Wood has been appointed as head teacher at Balnain Primary she took up post on 1 October. Stephanie replaces Margaret Livingston who retired in September.
Amanda Graham takes up post as acting head teacher at Cannich Bridge Primary from 22 October. She is currently a principal teacher for early years in the local area.
