Support for City Skate Park

Members of The Highland Council's City of Inverness Area Committee have backed a new skate park for the city through the grant of £95,000 from the Inverness Common Good Fund towards the £350,000 project.

An application for funding by the Highland Skate Park Association to convert the old BMX and skateboard site at the Bught Park into a skate park has been approved by the City Committee.

The group plan to create a stimulating and attractive skate park that will be open to everyone with special efforts made to involve young people, including those new to the sport, from all areas of the city.

Leader of the City Committee, Councillor Ian Brown said:  “I am delighted that this project will transform a neglected area of ground into a vibrant space that the whole community can enjoy.  Wheeled sports are very popular, especially with young people and the new park will be a great place to pick up new sporting skills and make new friends. “
