Procession marks opening of new Ben Wyvis Primary School
Pupils of Ben Wyvis Primary School, Conon Bridge, marked the opening of their £8 million community school today (Wednesday 24 October 2012) by marching in procession from Conon Bridge Community Hall to the front door of the nearby school.
Led by pipers Alan McHardy and Sean Mackenzie and accompanied by parents and teachers, the children, wearing their new purple sweatshirts, carried and waved flags emblazoned with the Ben Wyvis Primary School logo on their 200 yard walk to the school, which is located beside the former Conon Bridge Primary School.
Logo designer, Cougar MacDougall, a Primary 7 pupil was joined by Primary 1 pupil Campbell Hepburn in cutting a ribbon to mark the opening of the school.
The school roll is 233. There are a further 54 nursery pupils.
A formal opening ceremony will be held at a later time.
Ben Wyvis Primary School is an amalgamation of Conon Bridge and Maryburgh Primary Schools, It l comprises 10 classrooms as well as: a nursery and wrap-around childcare facilities; 2-court sports hall with changing rooms; kitchen and dining facilities; school library; community room and kitchen; and floodlit multi-use games area.
