Warriors to wow Highland pupils

An impressive looking group of Osiligi Maasai Warriors will be visiting Highland schools this week to perform tribal songs and dance and share some secrets of their traditional tribal ceremonies.

Founded in 2007, the troupe all come from Kisamis, a village 30 miles southwest of the Kenyan capital of, Nairobi. Their first tour was based in Edinburgh and was so successful since then they have regularly visited the UK to performing their songs and tribal ceremonies.

As well as educating and entertaining audiences, money raised from their public performances has been used to support their families and fund improvements in their village through the Osiligi charity.

Their tour of Highland schools starts on Wednesday with a morning visit to Kingussie Primary followed by an afternoon visit to Aviemore Primary School.

The following day the warriors will be based in Inverness with visits to Smithton, Milton of Leys and Merkinch primary schools.

Their Highland schools tour draws to a close on Friday 7 September with morning performances at both the primary and secondary schools in Dingwall.
