Explore Glen Strathfarrar

Corinne McCallum, Countryside Ranger for The Highland Council, is inviting nature lovers to joint her and explore the wilds of beautiful Glen Strathfarrar near Struy on Saturday 15 September.

She said: “This is an extraordinarily beautiful part of the world and it is not the most easily accessible so it is a real opportunity to get into the glen and get out exploring.  It won’t be a slog through a bog but rather a gentle walk down the tarmac road taking in the incredible views of the Caledonian Pine Forest and mountains beyond.

She added: “The native wildlife will hopefully be on show and the glen is celebrated as a site for ancient woodland and as such provides a home for some of the iconic wildlife of the Highlands.  From the plentiful late summer fungi to deer to soaring eagles, on a good day there is abundance of wildlife to be seen and with us being on the cusp of autumn you can expect some of the vivid colours associated with the season.”

The walk will be around 5km long and will be at a gentle pace with lots of stops to chat about the history of the glen so everyone is invited to come along.  Booking is essential for this walk on Saturday between 11am and 3pm, please contact Corinne McCallum on 01463 255291 to reserve a place.
