Council Leader congratulates Everything Baby
Leader of The Highland Council, Councillor Drew Hendry recently congratulated the fledgling charity Everything Baby Highland on their successful application to the Scottish Government Climate Challenge Fund for £90,171.
With this funding the group aims to provide affordable pre-loved baby goods and parenting support to Highland families. Based from a shop due to open soon in Inverness, the project will reduce carbon emissions by promoting the benefits of reusing baby goods.
Leader Hendry said: “The news from Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Minister for Environment and Climate Change that Everything Baby was successful with their application is extremely welcome. Everything Baby is a creative and innovative venture which realises the value of recycling baby goods. This initiative will help to reduce the carbon footprint of the Highlands and the Council is proud to lend its support.
“The project is in alignment with Highland Council’s recent long term commitment of achieving a Carbon Neutral Inverness in a Low Carbon Highlands by 2025; Carbon CLEVER Highlands.”
Katy Kitchingham, Director Everything Baby said: "We are really looking forward to the next step in establishing Everything Baby, our lovely new shop. Our funding from the Climate Challenge Fund has allowed us to start recruiting staff, which we are doing at the moment. We are also looking forward to delivering Low Carbon Parenting Workshops, which aim to provide families with information on the carbon impact of their parenting choices. Having a new baby doesn't have to mean a lot of expense and consumption of resources at all - and saving money is another real benefit of choosing pre-loved for your family."
Everything Baby is a registered charity (SC043923) and company limited by guarantee (446534).
