Call for information on vandalism to City park trees.
Members of The Highland Council’s Inverness Ness-side Ward are calling on members of the public to let the Police know if they have any information about fourteen trees that have been deliberately damaged at Culduthel Park, Inverness.
All of the fourteen young trees were snapped in half and the council’s TEC Services will have to remove them and replant new trees in October when conditions are suitable. The cost of replacement is expected to be around £1,000.
Councillors Alasdair Christie, Norrie Donald, Fraser Parr and Jean Slater are urging anyone with information to contact the Police on 101 or Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111 if they wish to remain anonymous.
Culduthel Park Inverness was created on an area of undeveloped land on the south side of Inverness as a recreational facility and green space for the local community.
The Park covers approximately 3.5 hectares of land adjacent to Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis and the Roller Bowl site providing a system of paths, open grass and meadow areas with native species of trees and shrubs.
Funding for the Culduthel Park project was provided by greeninverness (£69,540); The Highland Council’s Inverness Ness-side Ward discretionary budget (£20,000); and Lochardil and Drummond Community Council (a pledge of £3,181).
The park land is owned by The Highland Council and maintained by the Council’s Transport Environmental and Community Services.
