SQA Results 2013 - Strong exam performance by Highland candidates
Exam candidates across the Highlands get their results by text, email or by post this morning (6 August 2013).
Overall, the number of S4 pupils in The Highland Council area achieving five grades at level 4 or better has risen by 3.7% to 83.1%, the highest in five years. Similarly, the number of S4 pupils achieving five grades at level 5 is up by 4.4% to a five year high of 41.1%.
In S5, the percentage of candidates achieving 3+ Highers has risen over a five year period to stand at 27.6% this year. Three hundred fifth year pupils achieved five Highers in one sitting. Fifty five candidates attained five straights A’s (eight at Inverness Royal Academy, six at Fortrose Academy and five each at Culloden Academy and Millburn Academy). In percentage terms, Golspie High school with four (6.3%) candidates with five A’s was one of the best sets of results in the Highlands in this category.
In S6, four hundred and forty candidates achieved at least one Advanced Higher.
