Oscars for pupils in Inverness outdoor learning project

Pupils from six primary schools in Inverness and district have won "oscars" for taking part in an Outdoor Learning Film Festival.

They attended a ceremony at Eden Court, Inverness to receive their  awards from The Highland Council Leader, Councillor Drew Hendry.

The event was organised by Dr Sam Harrison of  Open Ground, a local organisation,  which supports teachers and children to take their learning outside, focusing on a wide range of ways in which children can learn new things about their local area through creative arts, history, Gaelic, and the sciences.

The winners were: -

Each class created the idea, script, costumes, cast and props for the film over the last term, with two days of outdoor learning from Open Ground, and considerable work in the classroom with their teachers.

The last day out involved filming (with only three hours to complete the short film), and editing in the afternoon.  The finished products were shown at Eden Court in a four night run, culminating in the final 'oscars' night where prizes were awarded.

The project was made possible by the hardwork of the teachers, parents and children, and the film nights kindly hosted by Eden Court.
