Council delivers Area Committee network
The Leader of The Highland Council, Councillor Drew Hendry, has welcomed the delivery of a commitment by the Council to establish five Area Committees to provide local scrutiny over Council Services.
The fifth and final committee to meet is the Skye, Ross and Cromarty Area Committee. The first meeting will be held in Dingwall on Wednesday (11 December), starting at 2 pm. It will be webcast.
The first two Area Committees to be established were the City of Inverness Area Committee and the Caithness and Sutherland Area Committee. This was followed by Area Committees at Lochaber, as well as Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey.
Councillor Hendry said: “We promised to decentralise decision-making and I am delighted we have delivered a network of 5 area committees. They provide a forum for key local issues to be discussed. We will review their success after the first year of operation.”
