Crane incident closes Kessock Bridge for 45 minutes
Issued by Scotland Transerv
At 10 am today (Wednesday), a mobile crane became entangled in the temporary barrier at the Kessock Bridge resurfacing works. This immediately blocked the northbound lane and it became necessary to close the southbound lane also to aid recovery of the vehicle. This resulted in a closure of the bridge for around 45 minutes
The vehicle in question was on the limits of those permitted through the works unescorted and similar vehicles have passed through the works without incident. Through discussions with Northern Constabulary however it has been agreed to reduce the allowable width of unescorted vehicles from 3.0m to 2.9m to avoid any reoccurrences of this mornings issue.
