River Ness Flood Scheme update.
Work continues on the utility diversion works required to pave the way for the £24.75 million River Ness Flood Alleviation Scheme in Inverness, which will protect 800 homes and 200 businesses. The focus will be on Huntly Street, Friar’s Street and Glebe Street.
Douglas Row will be shut to vehicles for essential gas works until 18 January. There will be no through road to Bank Street until then. Residents have been made aware of alternative parking arrangements from Coffey Construction Ltd. Parking should be restored in Douglas Row from Monday 21 January.
At Huntly Street, utility replacement works will be underway in sections of Huntly Street continuously until the end of April. Huntly Street will be closed to vehicles between Greig Street and Celt Street until 22 January. Pedestrians will have access at all times. The next section from Celt Street to Wells Street, is expected to be closed from 23 January to 31 January. Alternative arrangements for access to Huntly Court will be advised by leaflet drop from Coffey Construction Ltd. There will be no continuous through route for vehicles from Wells Street to Ness Bridge, but all other sections of Huntly Street will be open to all vehicles and pedestrians will have access at all times.
During the works period there will be no Pay and Display parking along Huntly Street.
Parking will be provided for Permit Holders only. Permit Holder’s will be able to park along any section of Huntly Street that is open or along adjacent streets. Traffic wardens have been informed and have approved these arrangements.
Friars Street is currently closed to vehicles, to allow the laying of new electricity cables, and is expected to reopen on Friday 8 February. Residents have been made aware of alternative parking arrangements by Coffey Construction Ltd.
Access for pedestrians and cyclists is being maintained throughout the flood works.
Works on Glebe Street are currently anticipated to start in early February. More details will be issued by Coffey Construction Ltd, nearer the time.
Collection of refuse bins will be as per normal scheduled times. However, residents are asked that bins be put out for collection in the usual place the night before normal collection day. This will enable Coffey Construction personnel to move the bins to a location that can be accessed by the refuse collection vehicle. Coffey Construction will manage the moving of bins and ensure that they are returned to their correct location immediately after collection.
