City Transport Forum

A city transport forum is being held soon to give businesses and the general travelling public the chance to hear the measures being taken to minimise the impact of the Kessock Bridge resurfacing work and the ongoing River Ness Flood Alleviation Scheme.

The forum is taking place between 4.30 – 6.30 pm on Monday 4 February at Inverness Town House.

The meeting is being chaired by Councillor Ian Brown, Leader of the Highland Council’s City of Inverness Area Committee and key speakers will be Cameron Gair, Transport Scotland and Calum Galloway, Scotland Transerv who will speak about the Kessock Bridge and Colin Howell, The Highland Council, who will focus on the River Ness Flood Alleviation Scheme.

The first phase of bridge resurfacing begins on Monday 11 February and continues until 7 June.

Work is continuing in Huntly Street and Friars Street on the £24.75 million River Ness Flood Scheme.

Following the presentations there shall be a question and answer session and as well as the presenters, representatives of Stagecoach and First Group will be available to respond to any issues raised.

The meeting will give details of the proposed works, the programme of delivery together with traffic management and mitigation measures which include coordination between the projects.

Councillor Brown said:  “The Council has been liaising with Transport Scotland to programme works which minimise disruption to travel movements.

“The forum is timely coming a week before the Kessock Bridge resurfacing begins and while the Flood Scheme continues.

“It is open to the public and it is a chance for anyone (including people outwith the Inverness area) who may be affected to come along and find out what is planned.”
