Dragons and mini beasts on the menu for family events

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers are running two family friendly events next week which will feature a guided walk to track down dragons and a mass mini beast hunt to get a close look at the many wee creatures we see out and about.

Do dragons really exist? On Tuesday 9 July in Tradespark Wood, Nairn the Council Ranger for the area John Orr will be leading families on a special dragon walk from 2pm – 4pm. John said: “We’ll be tracking dragons through the woods, looking for tracks and signs. Dragons seekers should phone me to book a place and to find out the meeting place”.

Suitable for children aged 4-10 years, the cost is £3 per child and all children must be accompanied by an adult. To book call John before 5pm on Monday 8th July on 01463 255291.

Minibeasts will be under the microscope at Ardersier Common on the afternoon of Thursday 11th July with a mass minibeast hunt.  From 2pm – 4pm families are invited to come along and find out more about the little creatures that live in the nooks and crannies of the Common.

John added: “Minibeasts are fascinating creatures, and we’ll be learning where to look for them and discovering all about how important they are”.

Anyone wanting to join in should meet up at the Ardersier Common picnic site car park at 2pm and the cost is £3 per child.

The aim of The Highland Council Countryside Rangers is to promote public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and to conserve wildlife.
