Police advise of increased traffic during Scottish Open this week
Police in Inverness are advising members of the public of increased traffic volumes during the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart later this week.
The event, which begins on Thursday 11 July 2013, is expected to attract a number of people to the region and see increased traffic around the Inverness and Nairn areas, in particular on the A96.
A comprehensive road traffic management plan has been prepared, as is usual for large scale events, which will see temporary restrictions of 30mph on the roads surrounding the event to allow safe access and egress.
Area Commander for Inverness, Chief Inspector Graeme Murdoch said: "I am delighted to see the Scottish Open being hosted in the area once again and hope that everyone attending has a safe and enjoyable time.
"I would like to remind the public who live in the area that there will be increased traffic, in particular on the A96 between Inverness and Nairn so they should factor this in to any journeys they have to make. I would also advise those attending to leave plenty of time for their journey.”
The Scottish Open starts on Thursday 11 July and concludes on Sunday 14 July.
