Dunnet Beach Clean and Around Britain Charity Kayak Challenge, 24 July
The Countryside Rangers and the team from the ‘Around Britain 4 Britain’ charity challenge are looking for some help with their beach clean at Dunnet Beach this Wednesday evening (24 June), between 5 and 7pm.
The event is part of the ‘Around Britain 4 Britain’ (AB4B) charity challenge which sees Lee Pooley and Nick Arding circumnavigate the UK mainland by Kayak. The kayakers – and the AB48 support team – are raising money for CLIC Sargent and Marine Conservation Society, and completing 16 beach cleans around the UK on their way.
If the weather is favourable Lee and Nick plan to paddle their kayaks in to Dunnet Bay to join the attendees, Rangers and AB4B team and help with the clean.
Paul Castle, Highland Council Countryside Ranger for North Sutherland and North Caithness, said: “This is a great event with lots of benefits. Firstly, it will clean Dunnet beach which helps to ensure that both people and wildlife can use the environment safely. Secondly, the beach clean will help the Marine Conservation Society gather important information about beach litter. Last but not certainly least, it should be great fun for everyone who attends.”
Meet at the Seadrift Centre car park from 5pm and stay as long as you are able. Bags, gloves and equipment will be provided.
