Election of new Depute Provost for Inverness

Councillor Jean Slater, Inverness Ness-side, has been elected as the Depute Provost of Inverness at a meeting of The Highland Council’s City of Inverness Area Committee.

Councillor Slater will support  Provost Alex Graham and deputise when the provost is not available, sharing these duties with  Councillor Bet McAllister, Inverness Central, who is also Depute Provost.

Councillor Slater replaces Councillor Glynis Sinclair, Culloden and Ardersier, who resigned recently.

She said:  “I am honoured to have been elected as Depute Provost and look forward to serving my community through this important civic role.”
