Remedial works on A890 Stromeferry Bypass

Work starts today (Tuesday) on planned maintenance works to the rock faces on the south side of the A 890 Stromeferry Bypass, Wester Ross and is expected to continue for an estimated eight weeks.

Due to the proximity of the road, traffic management will be necessary for the duration of the contract, which has been awarded to Geo-Rope Ltd of Ballachulish. The work required includes scaling of the rock faces, removal of unstable material and vegetation together with installation of rock support netting.

The road will be kept open at all times but it will be necessary to halt traffic for up to 20 minutes to allow the rock to be brought down and the road cleared of debris.

The railway line is also close to the road and the contractor will provide protection measures and Network Rail will provide supervision.

Every effort will be taken to minimise disruption to traffic flow but delays will unfortunately occur.
