Inverness fair planned to recruit home carers
A plan to hold a recruitment fair, aimed at attracting people into the social care sector, including home care, emerged from the second meeting of the Inverness East District Partnership.
Tina Morrow, from voluntary sector organisation Signpost Highland, agreed to take plans forward with the help Inverness Partnership Employability Sub-Group. She said: “The plan is to hold a recruitment fair focused entirely on home care. The event will involve input from a range of employers and key partner organisations such as Jobcentre Plus.”
Highland Councillor Kate Stephen, who prompted the discussion, said: “We tried as a Partnership to focus on solutions to the problem. For example, how we might make links directly between employers and schools and we have achieved a positive outcome.”
Partnership Chair is Gillian McCreath, NHS Highland Board Member, who said: “I’m very pleased to see progress being made on such a critical issue and look forward to seeing the plans for the fair taking shape.”
Highland Councillor Ken Gowans, who chaired the latest Partnership meeting, said: “‘This clearly demonstrates the value that district partnerships can bring to communities when agencies and stake-holders work collaboratively to bring forward initiatives. I look forward to discussing many other important topics as this engagement and action model becomes more familiar to the public.”
