East Ross District Partnership update.
East Ross District Partnership met recently on Friday 14 June at The County Community Hospital, Invergordon.
Among the items discussed was the challenge facing young people looking for work and the support that is available through the East Ross Employability Group including help from: The Highland Council, Jobcentre Plus, Skills Development Scotland and High Life Highland.
Local Youth workers provided examples of successful support that has enabled young people to get experience in the workplace and in some cases secure permanent employment.
There was also a presentation about the Family Nurse Partnership which offers support to pregnant women aged 19 years or less from the early stages of pregnancy until the baby reaches two years of age. The service is available throughout the Easter Ross area and is proving to be highly valued by the young mothers.
The final presentation was about Keep Well, an initiative aimed at health promotion for 35 to 64 year olds in Easter Ross. The emphasis of the programme is remaining healthy and aims to have a presence at a wide range of community events over the summer.
Councillor Martin Rattray who chaired the meeting said: “I was delighted to hear about the initiatives covered at the meeting. It is important that services support and address people’s needs whether employment, young motherhood or the health of everyone. It was a very positive meeting and I was especially pleased to see colleagues exchanging ideas and contacts.”
