Easter Ross strives to be better connected
Members of the community are invited by The Highland Council to attend a joint Cromarty Firth and Tain and Easter Ross Ward Forum to consider access to broadband in the area and explore what can be done to get improved broadband.
The ward forum will be held on Wednesday (26 June) in Tain Royal Academy, starting at 7.30pm and the public is invited to attend.
Representatives from Community Broadband Scotland (CBS) will be attending and the forum hopes to give people an understanding of CBS support and how it fits with the plans to roll out superfast broadband to 84% of premises in the Highlands and Islands. It will also explore how to promote use of broadband, look at what potential benefits better broadband could bring to the area, and discuss how that might be made to happen.
Councillor Jamie Stone , Tain and Easter Ross, said: “We know how important broadband is to folk but perhaps not everybody realises they can help to influence how quickly better broadband is brought to the area, whether that is as part of mainstream provision or perhaps by finding a local community solution.”
Councillor Martin Rattray, Cromarty Firth, added: “We are delighted that Community Broadband Scotland and some of our local community councillors and residents are able to help us explore this topic. We hope this will help people to better understand the current position but also to think about what they and their community can do to push on this agenda.”
