Free access for youths at #FUSIONINVERNESS

Issued by Inverness Leisure

The teams from Inverness Leisure and High Life Highland are coming together in a joint partnership that will potentially see hundreds of youths getting free access to all the facilities at the Bught Lane leisure centre.

Following a very successful trial towards the end of last year it has been decided to hold another ‘Fusion Inverness’ due to the really positive feedback that was received from those who took part in pilot project.

The project which is aimed at S1 to S6 pupils is being financially supported by Inverness Leisure and High Life Highland amongst other funders including Cash Back for Communities and the Scottish Government. Fusion Inverness will see everyone who attends get completely free access to the largest leisure centre in the Highlands on Saturday 9th March between 7 and 10pm.

Speaking about the event, James Martin, Chief Executive at Inverness Leisure said, “I am delighted that following the great feedback for the pilot scheme we are able to work with High Life Highland once again to give access to all the areas in the leisure centre.

“In addition, we have agreed that on this occasion Inverness Leisure will also sponsor the ‘LazerTag’ zone which will be located in the centre on the night as something different for those that come along to get involved with completely free of charge.

“This is a great opportunity for the young people from around Inverness and the local areas to have something really enjoyable and worthwhile to do on a Saturday night – as well as giving them a chance to try some areas of the centre that they wouldn’t normally.”

Following on Shona McDonald, Youth Development Officer with High Life Highland continued, “I have never had such positive feedback from young people about a FUSION event. Since our first partnership with Inverness Leisure in November I’ve had constant enquiries from young people about a follow up date.  This event provides young people with an opportunity to experience many of the activities on offer for the first time, with their peers, in a supported but relaxed atmosphere.

Fusion Inverness is open to everyone who is in S1 to S6 and will give fully free access to the pools, aqua-inflatables, leisure pool and flumes, the gym, loads of sports in the sports hall, dance mats and even the climbing wall. And not forgetting the special event of LazerTag which will also be available on the night.

Organisers are wanting people to start talking with their friends in person but also online on social media sites using the hashtag #fusioninverness before, during and after the event.
