River Ness Flood Scheme update – work focuses on Castle Road and Huntly Street

Motorists are being advised of forthcoming works on the River Ness Flood Alleviation Scheme, Inverness, which will focus on Castle Road and Huntly Street.

From Monday 11 March until Monday 8 April, Castle Road will be restricted to one way movement in favour of traffic travelling into the city centre from Island Bank Road.

For out-bound journeys,  there will be diversions along Castle Street and View Place to get to Haugh Road, Ness Bank or Island Bank Road.  During these works, SSE will be installing new services and carrying out tie-ins for the River Ness Flood Alleviation Scheme enabling works.

At Huntly Street, new gas main and water main installation works are continuing and from Monday 18 March,  the street will be closed to traffic between Greig Street to Ness Bridge for 3-4 weeks.  Businesses remain open and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout.  The lower section of Huntly Street, between Wells Street and Greig Street will be open to traffic as normal.
