New head teacher for Merkinch Primary, Inverness

Jillian Kean has been appointed to the permanent post of Head Teacher at Merkinch Primary School, Inverness, having served as the Acting Head Teacher in recent months.

Jillian moved to the Highlands five years ago as Depute Head Teacher at Dalneigh Primary School, having taught previously in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire. 

She was promoted to Head Teacher at Carrbridge Primary before moving to Merkinch Primary.

She said: “I am delighted to have been appointed to the post of Head Teacher at Merkinch.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my spell as Acting Head Teacher and feel very much part of the Merkinch family.    As a school we are looking  forward to the exciting times which lie ahead.”

Between the nursery and primary school, there are almost 400 pupils at Merkinch.
