Temporary new parking arrangements at Sconser for Raasay Ferry service

Foot passengers using the Raasay ferry service are being advised of a change of parking arrangements at the Sconser Terminal, Skye, to accommodate an extension to the existing car park, a key element of a £2 million refurbishment of the ferry terminal.

From Monday 18 March, a temporary free park and ride system will be introduced adjacent to Sconser Golf Club, where parking for 30 vehicles will be provided. This will be in place until the contract ends in mid-June.

The contractor, McLaughlin and Harvey, will operate a mini bus service to link the new car park with the ferry terminal. The minibus journey will take only a few minutes for the three-quarters of a mile journey. Foot passengers wishing to leave their car at Sconser for the onward journey to Raasay should, from Monday 18 March, use the park and ride system.

Passengers should follow the advice given on the Caledonian MacBrayne timetable and arrive a minimum of 10 minutes prior to the sailing time to allow for the transfer.

The limited space available at the ferry terminal will continue to be used for marshalling vehicles which are going to use the ferry. Passengers should follow the signing on the A87 trunk road on arrival.
