Traffic Management Arrangements for Highland Derby
Issued by Scotland TranServ
Scotland TranServ would like to take this opportunity to thank the commuters travelling daily on the A9 Kessock Bridge for their patience and consideration while the major refurbishment works are taking place. The works are progressing well and to programme. TranServ would also like to thank the significant number of commuters who have opted to travel by public transport, car share, cycle, walk, work flexible hours, work from home and the flexibility of their employers who have encouraged this to happen.
This Saturday the 16th March, 2013, Inverness Caledonian Thistle welcomes Ross County to Inverness and the success in the SPL of both clubs ensures a bumper crowd. The traffic management on the bridge remains in place for the duration of the works and we encourage as many fans as possible to travel by public transport, bus or train, cycle or car share.
Stagecoach have teamed up with Scotland Transerv to encourage fans to use the bus to reach the match and the bus operator is hoping to alleviate travel concerns, not only for football fans but for those travelling to and from Inverness for shopping, work or just a day out. Stagecoach have confirmed that a discounted day return ticket will be available for travel from Dingwall, Maryburgh, Conon Bridge and Muir of Ord into Inverness for just £3 on 16th March, with the service every half hour at the normal stops.
Ross County fans who do elect to take their cars, at the end of the game will be guided out of the ‘away car park’, southwards along stadium road and as there is no northbound exit at the Longman roundabout they will be directed to the Raigmore Interchange and from there directed northwards on to the A9. This arrangement is designed to prevent both the ‘home’ and ‘away’ support exiting out of the ground towards the Longman area and causing significant disruption in that area.
Motorists should allow extra time for their journeys and pay attention to any advisory signs which will be in place throughout the works. For real time journey planning information visit www.trafficscotland.org
