Highland Council winter road condition reports for 13 March 2013.

Road condition and gritting treatment reports by The Highland Council’s, Transport, Environmental and Community Services for the morning of Wednesday 13 March 2013 are as follows:

Caithness and North sutherland
A covering of snow 2.5cm deep over whole area, localised accumulations up to 12.5cm at Gualin and Achfary, blading and treating all routes in priority order. Most routes passable with care. Posted: 13/03/2013 09:26

Skye and Lochalsh
Roads wet, light snow cover in some areas. Snow showers. Priority 1, 2, and 3 routes gritted and some priority 4 routes. Posted: 13/03/2013 09:19

Nairn
Roads wet, dusting of snow on high ground. Snow showers. Priority 1,2 and 3 routes gritted. Posted: 13/03/2013 09:03

Lochaber
Light snowfall on most routes. Treated as necessary. Posted: 13/03/2013 08:52

Badenoch and Strathspey 
1-2cm of snow on all roads hard packed in places low temperatures -5C recorded, gritting all roads by priority. Posted: 13/03/2013 08:50

South Sutherland and East Ross 
All routes affected by ice and lying snow particularly on high ground. All are being treated and are passable with care. Posted: 13/03/2013 08:22

Mid and West Ross
All routes in the west of the area affected by snow that has fallen onto frozen sleet/snow - very difficult to clear. Roads generally dry in the east although some higher routes affected by a dusting of snow. All routes being treated in priority order. Posted: 13/03/2013 08:06

Inverness
Patchy grey frost on some rural roads and patchy dusting of snow on some high roads, 1/2" covering on highest roads, all rural roads to be gritted. Posted: 13/03/2013 06:47
