Organisers of Blas 2013, the premier event celebrating all that is good about the Gaelic language and culture of the Highlands, are gearing themselves up for the launch of the ninth packed programme of events, featuring top performers and several new works.

Blas 2013 will run from Friday 6 September until the Saturday 14 and will deliver well over 100 cultural events at a variety of venues across the Highlands.  Featured artists will include top musical talent such as Capercaillie, Mànran, Cruinn and Seumas Begley & Jim Murray.  In addition, Gaelic writers and literature will be well represented through a partnership with Comhairle nan Leabhraichean and the annual Scottish-Irish literary event, Cuairt nam Bàrd, which will form part of the festival.

Tickets for the events at Eden Court are on sale now and full details of a spectacular programme of events will be launched at an event in the theatre complex on Thursday 13 June.

Headlining the opening extravaganza at Eden Court on Saturday 7 September will be award-winning Mànran along with Cruinn - James Graham, Fiona Mackenzie, Brian Ó hEadhra and Rachel Walker - joined by The Highland Council’s Cèilidh Band, Snas, and the all-conquering Dingwall Gaelic Choir.

Festival Director, Donna Macrae, has picked out the 30th anniversary celebration of the formation of Capercaillie as one of this year’s personal highlights.  She said: “Tickets for the Eden Court events are already available and anyone wanting to buy tickets for Blas 2013 should look out for the full programme following the 13 June launch and take advantage of the earlybird discounts that will be available for all events.  At the launch we will have some very exciting news about our full programme of concerts, our community programme and new works to be presented exclusively at Blas 2013.”

The Blas Festival is a partnership between Fèisean nan Gàidheal, The Touring Network and its main funder, The Highland Council.
