£130,000 improvement works on A87 Uig

Issued by BEAR Scotland

Transport Scotland is investing £130,000 to upgrade the A87 in Uig Village from Rha Bank Junction to the Ferry Terminal Car Park in works being delivered by Bear Scotland.

The works will be carried out on weekdays only over a ten week period between 18 November 2013 and 24 January 2014.

For the safety of road workers, pedestrians and road users, temporary traffic signals with footway diversions will be used whilst works are taking place.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Unit Representative said:

“These maintenance works will improve the condition of the footway and have been carefully planned to minimise delays to road users and pedestrians. Whilst the traffic management system may result in some disruption, this is necessary to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and road workers during the works.

“We would like to thank the public in advance for their patience and cooperation during this time. It is also advisable to check the Traffic Scotland website for real time information before setting out.”

Real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting www.trafficscotland.org.

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out footway resurfacing work on this section of the A87.
