Re-opening of Huntly Street and Bank Street, Inverness
Restrictions to vehicle movements on Huntly Street – between Young Street and Greig Street - and Bank Street, Inverness, will be removed with effect from 7 pm on Friday (29 November) to ensure local businesses gain the maximum benefit from pre-Christmas trade. At the same time, Fraser Street will revert to one-way from Bank Street to Queensgate for restricted traffic (buses, taxis and access only).
Both Huntly Street and Bank Street have been closed recently to allow works to proceed on the River Ness Flood Alleviation Scheme.
Work at both locations will resume on Monday 6 January, next year with present traffic restrictions being reinstated.
From today (25 November), Huntly Street is also closed between Balnain Street and Celt Street as piling work continues along the river towards Friars Bridge. This stretch of Huntly Street will re-open on Friday (29 November). Between Monday 2 December and Tuesday 10 December, Huntly Street will close between Celt Street and Wells Street.
The Highland Council’s Contractor Morgan Sindall advises that these dates are subject to variation depending on actual progress achieved.
